Stuck April 15th Challenge

Hello Everyone,

It has been a while since my last post. I have taken a couple of short vacations and have had a lot of traffic in my house lately which doesn't really allow time for my craft. Things are beginning to slow down and I am trying to get my creative juices flowing so that I am ready for the Scrapbook Expo here in Orlando in a week and a half. So I decided to try a challenge for  inspiration. I am using the sketch from . http://stucksketches.blogspot.co.nz/. Here is the sketch.

And here is my take on it.
Hope you enjoy.

Perfection

I created this layout a few months ago but with the holidays and the birth of a new grandson, things just got too busy. Today is Valentine's day so I figured it's a good day to post this Pinkish layout. It just makes me feel warm and happy when I look at it. As you can see I used a lot of paint and distressing ink to complete this layout. Every embellishment started off a different color, varying from royal blue to white. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for looking.

Canvas Layout

Here I am again trying to upload to my blog. I really must try to post more often. Everyday I tell myself to post my new projects, must somehow time runs away from me. But I am trying to make that one of my New Years' resolutions. So here I am posting a canvas I created as a gift for my cousin. She will in turn gift it to my aunt.

This is a 12x12 canvas. I used a piece of tissue, like you would use to put in a gift box, and glued it onto the canvas with mod podge. When it dried I used my distress ink pad and went over it lightly so that the textured areas would pick up the color. I usually start off with a array of colors from white to purple, and I just paint each embellishment to the color of my choice.

Thanks for looking.

Crazy Fun

My daughter seems to have some time to kill while she is on tour. She is a dancer and travels many of the Northwestern states touring for a Non-profit modern dance group. They perform for Public schools as well as other associations. But I guess it's not all work, they do manage to get some fun time in once in a while.

I created this layout using the sketch from http://stucksketches.blogspot.com/. I took a cardboard and just removed the top layer to expose the corrugated lines underneath. Used Gesso, paint, cardstocks, some distressed ink to get the look I was trying to achieve. Hope you enjoy.

My Husband and His Deer

My husband in the last couple of years decided he was going to start hunting. I am originally from Chicago and can honestly say I did not know anyone prior to moving to Florida that went hunting as a sport. So yes, I want surprised, but hey whatever keeps him entertained. (FYI - Every few years he starts a new hobby.) So thank goodness he actually managed to kill something (sorry, I know that sounds horrible) but maybe he'll stick to this hobby for little bit longer than the others. Gotta love them!!!

Toni's First Halloween - White with 1 September Challenge

My beautiful baby girl at 9 1/2 months dressed to impress on her first Halloween ever.

It's kind of funny how when they are babies everything is pink. Today she is 24 years old and I can't pay her enough to wear pink.

This layout was created for the "White with 1" Challenge. I usually try to stay away from pink cause as I mentioned she does not like pink, but I really like it. Thank you for the challenge and forcing me to use pink.

Summer Vacation with Friends

This layout was created using a picture of myself with and my friend/neighbor. We had such a great time this year on a Royal Caribbean Cruise. This particular picture was taken on the island of Labadee. If you have not taken a cruise with Royal Caribbean I highly recommend you do.

I created this layout for the August Challenge at Truly Madly Crafty Challenge. Hope you enjoy it.

Girl with Mic

I created this layout for a Challenge put out by Bella Creations' June Nuances de Couleur group.  Colors to be used where Red, Black and White and the inspiration sketch was;
The picture used is of my daughter during one of her performances. In case I have not previously mentioned, she dances for the Repertory Dance Theatre of Utah. Most of their performance are very historical, serious modern pieces. This piece was a funny, theatrical piece. My daughter being such a character was perfect for this number. I hope I did the pic justice.

Hi Everyone...what do you think of my new look? I am still new to the blogging world so it is taking me a bit to figure out how to manipulate the look of my blog, it's still work in progress. It seems that the more I learn about it, the more I want to change it. So don't be surprise if you don't recognize it in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again for looking.

Niko and His Scooter

My little grandson loves to pose for pictures. He barely moved in any directions on his scooter but man was he ready for the pics. If I'm not mistaken no sooner did I finish taking pics he said he was hot and tired and ready to go back in. What a ham, but you have to admit he does look good. I think it took more time putting on his gear than the time he actually spent outside. Gotta love him!!!

Time With Dad

What do you think? Awesome picture of my boys? The taller one is my son and the little munchkin, his son and my wonderful grandson. Wonderful story behind this pic; My son and his baby mama as they say today, are no longer a couple, but somehow they manage to put their differences aside to spend time with the kid. They took this pic at the movies while watching the film "Coraline". This layout was created for the "Magistical Memories August Sketch Challenge"

HE RAPS

I created the layout "He Raps" for my son Pierre. He is a local rapper in the Orlando area. I believe my son was born a rapper. My son was born in the mid 80's, approximately 5 years after the first rap song was recorded. You may be familiar with this song by The Sugarhill Gang, "Rapper's Delight", I know it was one of my favorites. I guess it is possible I played that song to death thus creating my own little Hip Hop Rapper. Look at me taking all the credit. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Rapping, it is also referred to as MCing or emceeing, it's a vocal style in which the artist speaks lyrically, in rhyme and verse, generally to an instrumental or synthesized beat. My son spoke in ryhme since the first day he started speaking. Every word that came out of his mouth had a musical beat to it. I always thought it was funny how he elongated everything he said to make it sound musical. One word that always sticks to mind is how instead of saying "Papi" (spanish for dad) he would say "pappiti". It was difficult creating this layout cause it needed a nice urban feel to it which you don't get out of adding the normal embellishemnts like flowers and ribbons. So it tool awhile and this is what I came up with. Thanks for looking.

Nerdy Victorious Challenge #7

Here is my take on the "Nerdy Victorious" Challenge.
The Awesome society of "Envious" at Nerdy Victorious Scrapbookers have a great challenge this month which I have decided to try my luck at. Check them out at http://nvsgirls.blogspot.com/
Just submit a layout inspired by this collage...pretty simple.

This is my very first post. I thought it might be fun to share my layouts with other fellow scrapbookers. Here I sit trying to figure out what can I say that would be of any interest to you and I really can't come up with much. So I decided to ask you a question. I spent about an hour this evening glueing embellishments back onto my layouts. These are layouts that I completed about 5 - 6 months ago. So my question is what adhesive can I use to ensure that this does not happen?

This first layout is a layout I actually completed a couple of months ago but I just wasn't very happy with it. Today I added some rub-ons in the letter areas and also added the purple rub-ons around the tree. I think I'm a little more satisfied with it. Most of the products used are from the Basic Grey Wisteria line.
